Introducing a New Moon
Ahead of Full Moon Magic, an evening of cosmic insight, we invited Francesca Oddie, a graduate of the London School of Astrology, to introduce us to the New Moon and prepare us for what’s in store…
Astrology is a cosmic language, it’s layer upon layer of fascinating insight. The more I learn, the more I fall in love.
The build up to a Full Moon is always an exciting, highly energised time. In particular, the 2nd of November looks to be a sparky day full of sudden insights. The perfect day to explore a new way of thinking and living.
I will discuss sun sign astrology, why we have such a bias towards it in society today. Exploring each sun sign (or star-sign) and discovering how the wants and desires of your sun sign are alive in your chart.
The lesser known players are our Rising Sign and our Moon sign. The rising sign, or our ascendant is the sign of the zodiac which was rising above the horizon at the time of our birth. With a quantum physical, magical, still unknown – but precise – science, the rising sign is the visible mask we wear. It’s the person we become in new situations when we are meeting people. It is the lens through which we see the world and it is how the world sees us. Calculating people’s ascendant signs was how I became hooked on astrology. We do not yet have the scientific process for how astrology works, but my word; we have the results!
The moon sign is our most private core. It is the person we are at home and represents our most fundamental needs.
The wants, desires, requirements and appearances of our ‘big three’ combination will not necessarily cooperate with ease and understanding our superficial needs in conjunction with our most fundamental needs is illuminating to say the least! What a relief it is to understand our innate contrariness; Full Moon Magic, indeed.
The Full Moon is a time of release and of manifestation, a culmination; bright, light and energising. On the 4th of November we will have the Hunter’s Full moon; a Full Moon in Taurus.
Traditional astrologers would say that the moon is exalted in Taurus, grounded, soothing, stable, content and loyal. Where the moon represents our emotions, a Taurus infused environment represents calm, warm seas. This moon in Taurus is opposite deep, penetrating Scorpio.
Where Scorpio desires emotional connection and control, Taurus seeks more physical and earthy connection. So this is where I do my Mystic Meg bit;Jupiter, King of the Gods, lucky, optimistic and a touch excessive is involved in this ‘lunation’ and I think there will be a bit of a tussle between our emotional needs and our more intimate needs. It looks pretty dreamy I have to say. Like a sudden breakthrough could lead to compromise. Hold your ground, know your worth, discuss your fears with your partner. The odds are on that they will be understanding and seeking a solution too.
The astrological map for the 4th of November made me think of this song…
